This website was designed to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all people. 'I Like Today' may very well have been the first words the thief that died along side Jesus Christ said moments after his death.
Luke 23:43 tells us that Jesus told the thief 'to day shalt thou be with me in paradise'. How could this be when they were both on crosses dying? The thief in verse 41 admitted he was dying justly for what he did, and confessed that Jesus Christ was dying for nothing he himself had done. He then asked Jesus to remember him when He came into his kingdom.
What is this all about you may ask; and what kingdom; and what does it have to do with me? Great question, and a question that only God's Word can answer.
Man is born into sin; not by choice. And God knows this. This is why his mercy is so unbelievable, and his love is seen in what he has done about it. In our helpless state to become 'clean' in the eyes of God, he has done something very special. The Bible tells us in John 3:16 'For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life'. THIS is truly God showing his love to us. As a matter of fact the Bible tells us in Romans 5:8 that 'God commendeth (showed) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.' Yes; yet sinners. In Romans 3:10 and 3:23 the Bible tells us we are sinners. This is of course because we were born in sin. Not a good situation, but we see already that God has provided a way for us to not suffer the consequences. The Bible tells us in II Corinthians 5:21 that Jesus Christ who knew no sin was made sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Romans 6:23 says that 'the wages of sin is death', so someone had to die for our sin. That one was Jesus Christ. In Romans 5:19 we see that 'by the obedience of one man (Jesus Christ) many shall be made righteous'. We need to be righteous in the eyes of God to go to heaven and be in his presence. The second part of Romans 6:23 says, 'the giftof God is eternal life through Jesus Christ'. GIFT; that means free to us. Remember John 3:16 you just read above? Who can truly understand the love of God? But it is true. Do you believe Jesus Christ did this for you as the thief on the cross did? There is nothing YOU can do to receive this gift other than repent of your sin of unbelief. Unbelief that it is Jesus Christ only who can take your place before God. The Bible is clear that is Jesus Christ only. John 14:6 tells us that 'no man cometh to the Father but by me (Jesus Christ)'. Not you and your good deeds. The Bible tells us in Galatians 2:21, 'if righteousness come by the law (good deeds), then Christ is dead in vain.' Dead in vain. What a waste of God's love! It is finished, as Christ proclaimed for the cross. What will you do TODAY?
Do you believe you are a sinner?
Do you believe Jesus Christ paid for your sin with his death?
Do you believe he rose from the dead?
Call on him by prayer and trust him today. Romans 10:13 says, 'For whosoever (anyone, YOU) shall call upon the name of the Lord (Jesus Christ), shall be saved.' That's a promise! The thief certainly is in heaven today because he trusted Jesus Christ.
Where will you be if you were to die today, or Christ came back today, as he promised?
Let me know of your decision or if you have any questions about this eternal situation.
